We like making things.
Tinkered Tactile exists because making one kind of thing forever sounded boring.
- Woodworking led to woodturning.
- Woodturning led to engraving.
- Engraving led to lasers.
- Lasers led to wondering what else could be engraved.
And somewhere along the way a workshop turned into a business.
Today Tinkered Tactile makes a constantly changing collection of handcrafted goods, custom pieces and experiments from a small shop in coastal North Carolina. Some of it is turned on a lathe. Some of it is cut and engraved with a laser. A lot of it is both, plus some leather, some slate and whatever else seemed like a good idea at the time.
That’s why the shop doesn’t have a tidy catalog. The products keep changing because the experiments keep working, and the best ones usually start with somebody else’s idea.
You can also find us at local markets around coastal North Carolina, which is where a lot of those ideas get handed to us in person.
- Sometimes we make twenty of something.
