Theme Publication

December 18th, 2006 Leave a comment Go to comments

I plan to continue my round of edits to this theme, and once I am done release it to the wild.

I also plan on removing Ed Merritts name from it as after a while its no longer his.  To be completely honest, and a tad harsh about it, his HTML and CSS aren’t very good.  I realize that he probably made the page from adopting someone elses work and modifying it, just as I am going to do to him.. but I plan to clean it up quite a bit;

  • CSS and HTML shall have proper indentation
  • Custom JS object for doing wizbang stuff
  • NO super secret mint chip to track other peoples usage
  • More function – there is a lot of stuff that wordpress can do that Ocean Mist just doesn’t take into account.

Etc..

I’ll keep you posted.  Right now its not far enough along to call it my own, but once it is I’ll start posting it.

    Stay tuned.

    Hello! You’ve done a very great job working on Ocean-Mist!! I like more than the Ed’s one… But I have a trouble.. Now I’m using the Ed’s one version as you didn’t release your’s one, and I want to enlarge the text space, letting the text go more to the right, but when I modiffy the weight the .postinfo moves and moves down of the entry text… what I have to do? could you please release your work and I will try to use it and translate to catalan as you will have more frienddly-themers who would like your work… please! Whe need your help! = )

    I do fully intend to release this theme, but still haven’t yet. I will get around to it but in the meant time you’ll have to be happy with the one Ed created.

    I don’t fully understand the issues you’re having with Ed’s version. If you could explain further and maybe link something I could try to help.

    I also don’t really understand the main page image question. Can you explain your meaning there a little further? Thanks.

    Well, I’ll try to explain more exactly my trobles, but excuse me for the problems I would have with the gramatic because I’m not english, I’m from Spain… So, now I have the Ed’s theme currently in use, but I want to enlarge the text from the .entry “talking of the CSS” because in the main entrace you only could see a very little part of it, and because I have moved the .postinfo from the real place to pretend to make more space for the entry text box. If you don’t understand me I will show it with a link: http://pifarre.freehostia.com/ there, in my blog, which is in catalan “sorry” you can see that in the main page the text is so shorter and didn’t arrive to the sidebar margin this is what I would like to enlarge, the text space, and also when you clic to “llegir complert, which is read more botton” you see the same problem, the text column is very wight shorter, this is what I want to increase.
    The other problem is the image, if you see an entry of for example “copying beethoven” in the sumary of the main page you can’t see the image i’ve putted on the entry, you only could see it when you clik to read the full entry….
    I’ll be very happy for your help and very pleased! Thanks!! = ) “Regards from spain”

    Ah I see.

    Make the following CSS changes.

    .post { width: 490px; }
    .entry p { padding-right: 0px; }

    that should shorten that white space. The .post width is the issue there..

    Not sure what the deal with the image on the front page is.. Dig through the main documentation and see if something there is causing it to not display..

    Thanks!! I will continuo trying to solbe all the “problems”, but thanks!

    Jason!! You need to release your work on Ocean’s Mist Theme! I have been talking with a comitive our catalan blogs and they like so much your work on the theme, they asked me to translate it if you please release it.
    Of course your name will apeare as the editor of the theme, not Ed.. But you’ve done a great job, why you didn’t let us use it and translate to arrive to more people?
    Thanks, I’ll be pleased if you let us use your modifications “of course it’s not for economical reasons…” Regards.

    wow i found this through google and i really hope that you’re able to release a fixed version of this theme. at my blog, we encountered one big problem, and that is that this blog doesn’t properly archive. most blogs at the bottom it will have a link to “older posts” but that functionality seems to be missing. if you have any ideas on how to fix it i would definitely appreciate it.

    Well at this point its not so much a fix of Ocean Mist as it is it’s own new theme that looks similar.
