Linux rules … it just works
I’m not a rabid linux fanboy trying to convert everyone.. but sometimes things work for the first time even when you just know they wont.. Something that I couldn’t get to work on my windows machine..
In an attempt to research the browser based game I am planning, I installed Masters of Orion (1) on my home PC and gave it a run. Yeah.. it crashed the computer. Old dos games just aren’t meant to run on the modern windows operating system. So after a couple tries, I uninstalled it. (Read: deleted it) No real loss, but it saddened me a bit. I really wanted to give that old game a try just to remember what it was like. It was nice that I could just down load it and give it a try..
One thing I noticed was that on the compatibility list it said it was compatible with DOSBox. So of course I fired up Synaptic on my linux box and installed it. MoO ran correctly the very first time. It just worked.
I love that.. This is how computers are supposed to be!!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna play some Masters of Magic.. hehe
